Food Physicist/Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Be a resident expert in the areas of water activity measurement, water activity applications, food moisture, food thermal properties, and biophysical aspects of food safety.
- Communicate food physics measurement and application knowledge to Decagon's current and potential customers through application notes, newsletter articles, presentations and publications in scientific meetings and literature, seminars, customer visits and trade shows.
- Design and test instruments for measurement of physical properties of foods.
- Interface with customers, marketing and engineering to assure sound design of product testing instruments and protocols.
- Conduct research as necessary to investigate new instrument designs and protocols and resolve customer measurement problems.
- Provide customer service and technical support to customers as needed. Visiting customers is required.
Qualifications:
- PhD in food physics/engineering or closely related area preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of water activity, food thermal properties and related areas of food physics/engineering
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Interest and aptitude in commercial aspects of food instrumentation design and application.
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively and work effectively in a friendly team environment

ECH2O Sales Associate
Job Objective:
Responsible for all sales activities. Works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction,
revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the sales of instrumentation which measures soil moisture, temperature, and other parameters, exclusively to the research agriculture industry.
- Acquire and use technical skills and product knowledge required to sell instrumentation in all research agriculture areas.
- Develop annual goals in conjunction with supervisor that details sales targets, and how they will be achieved.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead business conversations with prospects and customers.
- Use CRM system to manage sales processes, and record all key data relating to customer interactions.
- Assists in the implementation of company marketing plans as needed.
- Create and submit proposals/quotations to customers that address their key needs and result in sales for Decagon.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- Participates and contributes to the development of educational programs offered to clients, prospects and company employees.
- Visit customer sites to better understand their needs, and formulate solutions that will solve their problems.
- Attend tradeshows, and communicate with potential/current customers in order to generate new leads and repeat sales.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Good people skills
- Ability to work independently and solve problems while paying attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent computer skills including data entry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in soil and/or plant science(s) or interest in science
- Data analysis skills
